Clematis reticulata Walt.
Native to the South-Eastern and Southern states, Clematis reticulata is a climber with pale lavender to purple urn shaped flowers tipped in pale green. The vine can reach 10 feet (3 meters), and has 6-ribbed stems. It is found in open woods, fields and thickets on dry, sandy soil. Still fairly new to cultivation, but probably hardy from zones 6-9. Identification:The mature fruits of C. reticulata has feathery tails, unlike in Clematis pitcheri where the tails are glabrous or silky.
